Professeur Buitron, born in Laredo, Texas, has devoted 48 years to training, teaching, researching and preserving the martial arts of Zipota and Savate. He began his journey with Zipota at the age of 6 and has never looked back. He was given the nickname “Popeye” by his Uncle and Teacher for 23 years, due to his skinny and agile build, oversized forearms and calves, and his playful and energetic personality.
Starting in 1986, Sifu Keith See became his Kenpo trainer and he remained his student for 21 years. During his time learning Kenpo, he attained a 9th Dan in Kajukenbo from Grandmasters Larry Ordonio and Alfredo Bandalan, as well as a 9th Dan in Kenpo from Grandmaster Jeff Dukes. He also trained with esteemed first-generation Parker Blackbelts like Grandmaster Frank Trejo until Trejo’s passing. Presently, Sifu Buitron is studying under the guidance of Grandmaster Hu Panas.
